Wow. What an incredible day! Hosting my first-ever live event, Don’t Go Broke Trying Toronto, was a dream come true—and I’m still processing all the magic that happened in that room. I speak a lot at different conferences and events, but to host my own?! Wild. July 20, 2024 was one of the best days ever!!
I created this event because I wanted to bring the community together in person to learn, share, and connect over something we all care about: living our best lives without going broke in the process. And let me just say—y’all showed up with so much energy, openness, and good vibes.
We kicked off the day with a networking session and bingo cards to break the ice. This helped everyone start conversations, build connections and loosen up ahead of the main event.
Now to the main event! We hosted a panel with none other than my parents, Bode Odetoyinbo, The Finance Dad, and Denise Odetoyinbo. Check out our promo video for the event, it’s pretty amazing if I do say so myself! At the panel, we had great conversations about financial freedom, mindset shifts, raising financially literate kids, who to partner with if you want to build wealth and much more. It wasn’t just us talking either; the audience had some powerful stories, insights, and questions that made the room buzz with inspiration.
One of my favourite moments? Seeing everyone take notes like their financial futures depended on it (because honestly, they kind of do). We talked about budgeting without feeling restricted, investing even if you’re just getting started, and how to enjoy your money guilt-free while still building wealth.
But it wasn’t all serious money talk. We laughed, connected, and even got a little emotional because let’s be real—money is deeply personal. I left feeling like we’d built a true community, not just had a seminar.
Seeing so many faces from the community that has supported me online for years was surreal. You are the reason I do what I do, and sharing that space with you was beyond special.
This is just the beginning. Toronto was the first stop, but I’m already dreaming up what’s next. Whether it’s more events, new resources, or expanding the conversation globally, Don’t Go Broke Trying is growing—and it’s because of you. Thank you Interac who sponsored the event, to IHS who was our panel sponsor, to Stagas Bites our food sponsor, to 17 to Millionaire our book sponsor, and to Oama our style sponsor.
To everyone who came through: Thank you for trusting me with your time and your financial journeys. I hope you walked away with clarity, confidence, and the belief that you can create the rich life you deserve.
xo,
Reni
